Refinishing Wood Floors Hertfordshire

Our History:

Saul, a former Firefighter, originally trained in engineering and worked as a gunsmith for several years before getting involved in the cleaning industry.

The business originated as a window cleaning firm, running several vans and employees. Cornwell Services soon grew to include contract cleaning of offices and schools which, included regular cleaning of the carpets. Saul quickly discovered that carpet cleaning is quite technical, requiring a basic understanding of physics and chemistry, and decided to learn how to clean carpets and upholstery properly.

After attending various courses on the subject, he trained through the NCCA (National Carpet Cleaners Association) and sat and passed their two hour written examination before becoming accepted as a qualified member. Soon after qualifying, Saul began further training with the internationally recognised industry standard IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification).

He quickly gained the status of ‘Journeyman Technician’ through the regular attendance and passing of the IICRC’s training courses and written examinations in hard and soft furnishings and floor coverings.

From this point, with a high demand for our services, our stone cleaning side of the business went from strength to strength and Saul drove this section forward by attending the industry respected advanced ‘Natural Stone Floor Care & Maintenance and Restoration’ Courses by Nu-Life Ltd and IICRC.

The demand for wood floor sanding and refinishing helped Saul to decide to include this alongside his stone floor cleaning and refinishing service. He has undergone intensive and extensive training with PALLMANN, one of the leaders within the wood floor refinishing industry, and offers this service to both domestic and commercial customers.

We offer 4 different packages for wood floor sanding and restoration:

  1. WOOD CLEANING and OILING:

If your floor doesn’t have any scratches and it has been oiled before, we will be able to clean the floor and then re-apply oil to bring it back to life again. This will require pre-inspection and testing.

  1. WOOD SANDING and OILING:

This will involve sanding the wood floor to prepare it for the application of hard wax oil (2 to 3 coats). The floor sanding system we use is 99.9% dust free as we use an advanced extraction system. We will then proceed with the application of the protection to the wood floor. No traffic can be allowed on the floor for at least 3-4 hours to allow the protection to cure. Also, we will ask you to remove all furniture from the rooms before the work commences.
